When TV network ABC hosted a free screening of the two-hour premiere of the last season of Lost in Hawaii for its over 12,000 fans, little did they expect that the first hour of the show would be posted up on YouTube.
But the fans or the fan, the security apparently wasn't that secure, who videoed the premiere was going to be in for a surprise … many other fans who weren't invited for the premiere refused to see the episode on the popular social network. In fact, fans were urging other social networks to bury the video if it was posted on their site.
The move surprised ABC bosses who thought that the major build up to the premiere would have fan the fuel of curiosity among Lost fans who were eager to find out what happens at the beginning of the final season.
To the leak, on fan wrote on Twitter, “Are people so impatient that they would rather watch a cell phone camera version of the premiere than wit one day?” Another fan blogged “Why would you want to watch the grainy and blurry version when you can see it in high definition in just a few days? What's the fun in that?”
Lost will end its run this May with the 121st episode. The TV show began screening in 2004 and centers around the lives of survivors of a plane crash. Although ratings were high for the first two season, the numbers began to drop steadily despite the network's attempts to salvage it.
