KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s face of Li TV Timothy Sangawa is elated to be the emcee of the exclusive dinners hosted by South Korean celebrity chef Edward Kwon tonight and tomorrow at the Ritz Carlton Kuala Lumpur.
After meeting Kwon in the kitchen on Wednesday, the half-Japanese half-English television host said he had bumped into Chef Kwon briefly during the launch of EdVentures In Asia in June.
“So, I’m really excited to be hosting an event that showcases Chef Kwon here in Malaysia.
“Hopefully, I’ll be able to do some cooking with him or maybe we could even do a cook-off,” he said yesterday.
Sangawa is the newly-designated face of Li TV and enjoys making quick stir-fries and professes ‘an addiction to spicy cuisine’.
His father Simon operates three Japanese restaurants in Kuala Lumpur.
Based in Malaysia since January, Sangawa, 27, signed with Li TV in May and has filmed many different subjects for The Link, a collection of two-minute vignettes of lifestyle products that are aired between regular programmes on Li TV.

Azhar Arif/The Star Kwon already has his hands full prepping for a six-course dinner to be served to 400 guests at the exclusive gala dinners. The menu will comprise fusion cuisine combining Korean dishes with Malaysian flavours and a European presentation.
Kwon has 15 chefs assisting him, including four who flew in with him from South Korea.
His culinary team includes executive pastry chef Chad Yamagata, restaurant managing chef Dennis Kim, and commis chefs Lee Kook-jin and Jang Soon-kyu.
Come Monday, Kwon’s own range of kitchenware will be launched in Malaysia, the first country outside of South Korea where EK Cookware will be made available. There will be special discounts for Maybank and American Express Card members.
EdVentures In Asia was presented by Maybank and aired on Life Inspired. Exclusive updates on the dinner event can be found in The Star and on www.litvchannel.com/edventuresinasia. To catch more of Chef Edward Kwon in action, watch Yes Chef! Season 2 on Life Inspired (Astro B.yond Ch 706) at 9pm from Oct 9.
