JULY 27-28: Thelonious Funksters, a funk band dedicated to playing original music, is back at Alexis.
These fine, experienced Kuala Lumpur musicians are at home with any genre of music, but their primary goal this time around is to groove on funky beats until they see their audience’s feet tapping and bodies shaking.
The band leader’s 23 years of experience includes extensive touring in the United States as well as Spain, France and South-East Asia.
If you want to experience a laid-back, groovy vibe that will have you dancing in your chair, the Thelonius Funksters is for you.

EVERY SATURDAY: Learn techniques and draw like a professional with personal guidance from experienced teachers.
The lessons include beginner level skills like sketching, character design and proportion, inking techniques, layout strategy and panelling. Intermediate classes are also available. Classes are available in three sessions: 11am-1pm and 1.30pm-3.30pm (for ages 12-17) and 4-6pm (adults).

THURSDAYS & SATURDAYS: The Department of Extra-Mural Studies of the Malaysian Institute of Art is offering pottery classes for adults in August.
The class will be conducted once a week on Thursday and Saturday at the centre. The class is based on pottery being a hobby and will be conducted at different levels.
Each level consists of eight lessons, including the glazing. The Thursday class starts from 9.30am whereas the Saturday classes are conducted at 10.30am and 2pm.
All classes will start in the first week of August and will be completed by the end of September. Adults and secondary students are welcome.

NOW TILL JULY 31: The art exhibition called Mah Meri Sculpture Exhibition is wrapping up soon.
Organised by Mah Meri Cultural Village (MMCV), the exhibition features the community’s art, culture and customs. There are wood carvings and batik fabric paintings, and activ ity stations to illuminate on the art-making processes. Admission is free.
