By RIZAL JOHAN
KUALA LUMPUR: It’s official! Malay-sia’s Marion Caunter and Dominic Lau (aka VJ Dom of Channel [V] fame) have been picked as the hosts for E! News Asia, the Asian version of the popular celebrity news and gossip show E! News hosted by Ryan Seacrest and Guiliana Rancic on the E! Entertainment channel.
The duo were informed two weeks ago and got straight down to work to prepare for the show’s debut on Sunday, 9.30pm on the E! Entertainment channel (Astro channel 712).
“I don’t think it’s really sunk in yet for us,” Caunter said about landing the job.
“Dom and I have been friends for a while and we used to joke about being on E! and what it would be like doing Ryan’s and Guiliana’s job ... and here we are.”
“It’s been a whirlwind experience,” said Lau. “It’s a dream job. I’ve always wanted to do what Ryan does.”
Auditions were held in early Feb-ruary and in the end, Marion and Lau
rose above the hundreds who tried out.
“Dom and Marion really stood out among all the people who auditioned. We were looking for a variety of qualities and they had everything we were looking for and, on top of it, they had something special as well,” said Christine Fellowes, managing director for Comcast International Media Group (CIMG), Asia Pacific.
CIMG is a division of the leading US media conglomerate Comcast Corpora-tion. CIMG represents Comcast’s core programming assets including E! Entertainment Television, The Style Network, and The Golf Channel among others.
Viewers can see Caunter and Lau interview some of the biggest stars in Asia at the 4th Asian Film Awards in Hong Kong recently.
E! News Asia is a weekly show and is available in 15 countries around the region.
