Amber Chia to try hand at hosting Cantonese talk show

SUBANG JAYA: We will be seeing more of Malaysian supermodel Amber Chia soon.

Besides strutting down the runway, adorning billboards, gracing magazine covers, starring in movies, TV series and commercials, as well as authoring a book, Chia is now trying her hand at hosting a TV programme.

Glowing Amber: The supermodel is looking forward to hosting the show on TV this weekend.

And to make it more challenging, she is doing it in Cantonese, a dialect that she learnt only after arriving in Kuala Lumpur some nine years ago.

“It is my first time hosting and I really enjoy the experience as I’m learning new things all the time.

“I really appreciate producer Yoko Chou giving me this opportunity to host a programme dealing with matters I am familiar with,” she told a press conference to launch the talk show, Golden Lifestyle, a fashion and lifestyle information programme.

“The show is informational and lots of fun. There will be lots of laughs, mostly at my Cantonese.

“I am looking forward to watching myself hosting the show on TV this weekend, and I must admit, I am already feeling very nervous thinking about it,” she said.

The programme features three segments: Lifestyle Express, Hair-style Magician and I Love Beauty.

The first season of the programme comprises 13 episodes, seven of which have already been filmed.

During the press conference, the show’s resident hairstyle magician, Ken Ho gave demonstrations on restyling and remodelling.

Chia recently founded her own company, Amber Creations, which will begin by dealing with events and productions.

She also hopes to set up her own modelling academy and will organise modelling workshops in September.

Golden Lifestyle, hosted by Chia and produced by Shining Star, will air on Jia Yu Channel (Astro Channel 304) every Saturday at 10pm from Aug 1. Repeats are on Sunday at 10am and 6pm.
