Linda goes back to roots

KOTA KINABALU: Akademi Fantasia 2 finalist Linda Nanuwil hopes that her debut album will help launch her career in the entertainment and recording industry.

The album, a mix of Kadazandusun and Bahasa Malaysia songs, was launched by Maestro Records in a traditional Kadazandusun setting at the Monsopiad Cultural Village in Kampung Kuai Kandazon, Penampang about 20km from here.

To mark the launch the Sabah-born lass sang three songs – Jika Kau Kekasih, Muli Kampung and Kau Pergi Sahaja – from the eight-track album at the simple function coloured by Kadazandusun music and dances.

Linda, who composed Muli Kampung and Kau Pergi Sahaja, said that it was a very special moment for her, despite the fact that her AF contemporaries Zahid, Adam and Farra had all launched their own solo albums.

“I’ve always wanted to have a unique album that is different from other albums,” said Linda, who was dressed in traditional Kadazandusun costume.

Asked if the emergence of new AF stars would affect the success of her delayed album, Linda responded that each artiste had his or her own following and style.

Maestro Talent chief Executive Officer Freddie Fernandez, said that Linda's album had been in the market since September and many of the songs had been played over radio stations.
